Ultrasound guided corticosteroid injection to the metatarsal cuboid joint for osteoarthritis
Ultrasound guided corticosteroid injection for a very inflamed metatarsal cuboid joint (lateral midfoot joint) and surrounding soft tissue for osteoarthritis (wear and tear arthritis).
This patient has a classic problem, a long standing adult acquired flat foot causes midfoot osteoarthritis when left untreated over a very long term. This patient also has a very labour intensive job, requiring 20,000 steps per day.
Using the ultrasound scanner I can visualise the needle placement to get an incredibly accurate injection, avoiding structures like nerve, blood vessels and tendons, which would make the injection more painful, with this gentleman having so little discomfort he is happy to film the procedure on camera for me.
