Fungal nail fenestration

Fungal nail fenestration

Fenestration is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local anesthesia used to treat fungal toenail infections (onychomycosis). It involves creating multiple tiny holes through the infected nail plate to allow topical antifungal medication to penetrate directly to the nail bed—where the infection resides. This technique improves treatment efficacy without removing the nail and is ideal for patients with partial or moderate fungal involvement.
